Application, data and dependencies
License & data notices
Updated: 27 September 2026.
1. Scope and ownership
These application terms cover only the publisher-owned proprietary portions of WTFreq Airband (RTL-SDR). The publisher is Rafał Czeczótka, publishing as Rafał DOT. Copyright remains with the respective rights holders. Support contact is available through the contact page and the Google Play listing.
WTFreq is not released as open-source software. Free access to its current features does not grant ownership of its source code, branding or third-party data. These terms do not apply to OpenSDR, independently licensed libraries or OpenAIP data.
2. Permission to use WTFreq
The publisher grants you a non-exclusive license to install and run lawfully obtained copies of WTFreq on your Android devices for lawful hobby and informational use. You may make backups as permitted by applicable law and the distribution platform.
No other rights to the proprietary portions are granted. Unless the publisher permits it or applicable law allows it, you may not redistribute, sell, sublicense or modify those portions, remove their ownership notices, or bypass paid-feature access controls. Statutory rights, including permitted interoperability and reverse-engineering activities, are not restricted by this clause.
3. Free features and future paid components
The current release provides its existing map, search, frequency-management and listening workflow without a paid unlock.
Future optional paid components may include scanning and audio recording. They are not included as available functions in the current release. A future offer must state its actual features, price, payment model, entitlement duration and purchase terms before you buy. No subscription, lifetime license, price or delivery date is established by this document.
Any purchase is for the described software functionality, not ownership of aviation data. Applicable Google Play purchase/refund rules and mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected. Future terms must not retroactively remove rights already granted by a purchase.
4. Separately licensed software and data
Open-source components and third-party data remain governed by their own licenses, which take precedence for those components. No restriction above limits copying, modification or redistribution allowed by those licenses.
OpenSDR Radio Host is a separate open-source receiver application. Its GPL/LGPL terms are not replaced by this license or by any future WTFreq purchase. See OpenSDR licenses and source information.
OpenSDR Radio API
WTFreq includes radioapi, the shared Android IPC contract, under the MIT License (full copyright and permission notice). Copyright © 2026 Rafał Czeczótka. This API may be included in open-source or proprietary applications, including paid applications, under its own license terms.
WTFreq communicates with the separately installed OpenSDR Radio Host through Android IPC; it does not include the Host's receiver core or native SDR libraries. The MIT license covers the API only, not the GPL-licensed Host implementation or its dependencies.
OpenAIP data attribution
This application may include data from OpenAIP. OpenAIP data is © OpenAIP contributors.
OpenAIP data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International. OpenAIP data may have been modified, simplified, filtered, converted, or transformed for use in this application.
The data is not proprietary data owned by WTFreq. Your rights and obligations for the data come from its own license and any applicable permissions from its rights holders. A software purchase does not grant additional commercial rights to OpenAIP data. No endorsement by OpenAIP is implied.
Maps and libraries
Map data includes © OpenStreetMap contributors. Standard and locally recolored dark maps use OpenStreetMap tiles under the tile usage policy. Older app versions offered CARTO layers subject to that provider's terms and attribution requirements. Map tile service terms are separate from the aviation database license.
WTFreq uses AndroidX, Jetpack Compose, Material, Kotlin and osmdroid components with their own notices, generally Apache License 2.0. This page is not a complete resolved dependency inventory; preserve the notices of the exact binary release.
5. Safety and lawful reception
Aviation data shown in this application is for informational and hobby use only. It must not be used for flight planning, navigation, operational aviation decisions, or as a substitute for official AIP, NOTAM, AIS, ATC, or other authoritative sources.
Although the software is developed with care, data, maps and reception may be incomplete, incorrect or unavailable. Check local law and obtain any required authorization before receiving, recording or sharing radio transmissions.
6. Warranty and mandatory rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the software and data are provided as available without a promise of uninterrupted operation, accuracy or fitness for safety-critical use. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits consumer protections, statutory guarantees or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7. Privacy and contact
See the privacy policy for local data, maps and optional support reports. Contact the publisher through the published support details.
